Glamour Hits the High Sea

Surfboards have never looked this good. Alexander Wang and Hayden Shapes have joined forces to create never seen before, high-end surfboards, that have made the waves look a whole lot better.

The 2014 Summer installation in store at Alexander Wang featured five marble print surfboards, exclusively created by Haydenshapes for installations in New York and Tokyo.

The concept stemmed from the idea of developing a high-end surfboard as a visual art piece, while maintaining a superior level of innovation, performance and authenticity. The marble artwork was co-developed by Wang and Haydenshapes for this limited series. Haydenshapes founder, Hayden Cox, personally crafted each limited edition surfboard by hand for the installations.

Photographs of marble slabs were digitally printed onto silk, then inlayed into the board lamination, to create each of the unique designs. The surfboards are the award winning Haydenshapes Hypto Krypto model, which was recently awarded ‘Surfboard of the Year’ at the Australian Surf and Board Sports Industry Association for the second year running.
