IDWALA LODGE Until recently the exclusive domain of the owners and their invited guests, this magnificent lodge is now open to the public on an exclusive use basis. The beauty of Idwala lies in the exclusivity of its luxurious accommodation and meticulous attention to detail. Added to this is the exceptional personal service levels which will fulfill your every romantic dream. Location: - Idwala Lodge is situated within the “Big Five” Nambiti Conservancy set on 10,000 hectares of malaria-free bushveld in KwaZulu Natal, ideally located near Ladysmith, only 3½ hours from Johannesburg and 2½ hours from Durban. Access: - The lodge is best accessed by road from Ladysmith (approximately 25 km). Air access is via either the Ladysmith Airport (42 Km) or the private airstrip on the conservancy. Details as follows: Co-ordinates S 28°27.768” E0 29°58.090” Altitude 1156.4m - Length 1.2km Accommodation: Accommodation consists of 5 air conditioned, en-suite chalets, accommodating 10 guests. The chalets are built on platforms with private viewing decks from which to enjoy spectacular views of the Big 5 Reserve. Each chalet is luxuriously equipped with an outdoor shower, electronic safe, coffee station and bar fridge. Facilities: - The central facility consists of two lounge areas, log fire place, elegant dining area and TV room. A large viewing deck wraps around the two sides of the lodge and connects the large infinity edge swimming pool to the stunning 'Boma'. Activities: - Activities include morning and afternoon game drives on the 10,000ha private conservancy. Unique Features: - The lodge is strategically situated in a malaria free area in close proximity to both Durban and Johannesburg. Child policy: Idwala Lodge welcomes children of all ages. Children under 6 years are regretfully not allowed on game drives. Please note that every precaution will be taken to provide for your safety and that of your children throughout your stay, guests are however asked to acknowledge the potential danger of being in a wildlife area. Communication: There is limited cell phone reception at the lodge. Email and facsimile facilities are available. Power Supply: The lodge is powered by ESCOM and power points are available in the rooms for chargers and hairdryers.
